Who we are

We started Sydney Sabre in December 2011. We were a small group of people hooked on sabre fencing and wanted to create a space so more people could play it with us. We’ve built a reputation since then as the world’s only fencing club that focuses on teaching anyone who’s interested in learning – especially adults.

Since then, we’ve taught more than 10,000 people how to fence. And we’ve been blessed with a welcoming and inclusive community of friends and students who have fenced and supported us through good times and hard times.

We remain focused on helping people learn and love this beautiful game.

We also help people get good at it; a side effect of teaching so much. We provide support, advice and mentoring for athletes, coaches and officials at every stage of their amateur fencing career.

(Don’t ask us about being a pro fencer, because it’s not really a thing. Actually, do ask us, and we will try to talk you out of it. Then we will call our scary friends on various professional teams around the world to provide backup.)
