Sydney Sabre was founded in December 2011 by a small group of people who were hooked on sabre fencing, and wanted more people to play it with. We’ve built a reputation for teaching anyone at all who’s interested in learning, and we’ve been lucky enough to have a welcoming and inclusive community form around us.
Our focus is on helping people enjoy the game. We do also help people get good at it: we provide support, advice and mentoring for athletes, coaches and officials at every stage of their amateur fencing career. Don’t ask us about being a pro fencer, because it’s not really a thing. Actually, do ask us, and we will try to talk you out of it. Then we will call our scary friends on various professional teams around the world to provide backup.
We want lots of people to learn how to fence sabre in Sydney and around the world, because we think it’s a good game to learn. Sabre is a game. We think it’s the best game. Games are fun, and best played with friends. If this sounds like something you might be into, come talk to us.
