Sabre guard sleeve from Allstar Germany. Soft red rubbery plastic.

Main role is to prevent electrical contact between your sabre guard and lame via your sweaty glove, so your opponent can’t hit your sabre to score a point. Minor role is to tell the world that you’re a good-looking sabre fencer wielding a good-looking sabre complete with red racing stripes. Latter role is almost certainly why you’ll see more of these sleeves than any other on the fencing competition circuit.
