Sabre guard pad by Allstar Germany. Soft red felt.
It’s a guard pad, mainly to prevent your sabre from making electrical contact with your lame via your sweaty glove. Also provides minor cushioning against guard clashes. Don’t rely on it though. It also looks good, makes your sabre look good, and by extension makes you look good. The most popular guard pad on the professional circuit, almost certainly for its aesthetics.
